It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong.

@modernmadhatter Sadly, it's getting truer and truer.
@georgetakei In a strange and merciful way, I cannot help sorry for them and their incredible amount of infuriating ignorance; The phrase "you can't fix stupid" is applicable to modern leaders (Not me of course I am a sophisticated gentleman even as a pauper, president or a prince!) and well... Forget jail, I'd go straight to the gallows I would!
@georgetakei
Then they erode the illiterate people's trust in news and replace it with state propaganda...
Didn't Trump just claim that the news channels were illegal?
Actually, though it is almost always quoted by people who don't know what it means, the line "The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers," is really about eliminating the justice system (which the speaker, Dick the Butcher, saw as a barrier to taking control of England). He also wanted to kill anyone who could read, and to burn all books and records.
@georgetakei They're going to end up making the cartel the fighters for freedom. Sort of like a reverse Muhadeen :p
@georgetakei excellent point
Madeleine L' Engle was way ahead of her time, and I read her books as a kid...'A Wrinkle in Time' had a huge influence on me. The movie was awful. The book was the first I ever read about a really smart girl who is---the main protagonist. The book is VERY relevant to the world today. It's not just a kid's book. It's still on my bookshelf and I still read it...because of the very ideas in her quote.
@cosmiclibrarian @LillyHerself @georgetakei As a boy, I had no trouble identifying with Meg.

In 1963, the school did not know what to do with me, except move me from 5th grade into 12th grade. I said "No. I feel feel weird as it is." A 10 year-old girl in classes with 17 and 18 year olds? Who were also immature? That was not the best option.
@georgetakei they want people just smrt enough to run the machines for their feudal lords.
@georgetakei Thank you for boosting that quotation. Librarians in Canada are fighting. Support gives us courage. Love and peace will prevail.
@georgetakei Dear George Takei,
I seem to remember that you were happy to throw the doctors and researchers who did not want an experimental gene therapy for everyone under the bus.
Have you changed your position and are now on the side of dialogue and science or is the globalist sick care mantra still acceptable to you?
And thanks to Reagan et al, 54% of American adults read at the grade 6 level, or lower.
And ttttttrump loves the uneducated...so much, that he bragged about that.
