Vice President of the United States of America: Denmark isn't doing enough to keep Greenland safe from *checks notes* the United States of America.
@Crell Militarily, Denmark is doing pretty well in protecting Greenland. After all, it co-founded the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and as such has the backing of 31 other countries who have committed to treat an invasion of Greenland by an enemy state as an invasion of their own soil.
@Crell Why is Mr. Potato Head wearing eye liner?
@shanecelis Hey now, no kink shaming...
@Crell this feels especially true when you are part of an administration that is actively trying to dismantle the programs that take care of the people.
@Crell Let it fall on deaf ears. The world was liberated from America yesterday!
@Crell I would call that "harsh", at all. It's simply reality, a reality that at least 40% of Americans live with. This isn't a problem limited to the lowest of the poor in America.
@Crell Friends,
Post to Mastodon, bluesky, ... sure - but it's mostly speaking to the converted.
We might take it further: from #YouTube search "Newsmax" add commentary to inform its viewers of what they are not hearing on the propaganda channels.
Cast it further: copy your representatives; submit as op ed pieces.
@Crell Not harsh at all.
Universal healthcare is the norm for democracies.
@Crell
Well, unfortunately his bumpkin MAGAs will believe this bullshit!
We should have laws in every country:
Politicians telling obvious lies should get
1st time: 50 strokes from cat o' nine and
2nd doing it repetitively getting hung by their neck! ... and left for the crows.
@Crell
It makes sense if you add (from us)
@Crell I *still* don't get this "medical debt" thing.
Isn't the USA the land of free enterprise?
So how come all these companies lend money to people who blindingly obviously won't ever be able to pay it back??
Is this just mind-blowingly crap credit control ... or is it ... shock horror!!! ... SOCIALIST REGULATION OF A NOT-FREE MARKET???
@TimWardCam No, it's usually things that are not covered by insurance, surprise!
Eg, you go to the emergency room. One of the doctors is out of network for you, but you don't know it. You get a $10k bill for that doctor. Insurance company shrugs it's shoulders and says "sorry, out of network." You now have a $10k medical bill. Good luck, fuck you!
(That exactly story has happened to many people, including me. Thankfully for much smaller dollar figures.)
Yes, it's a national disgrace.
@Crell Yeahbut why doesn't the doctor's credit controller check first, as part of the admittance paperwork, and tell you to piss off if you're not covered?
@TimWardCam For a routine visit with your GP or specialist, they generally do. ER doesn't check first: in an emergency you get treatment.
Even then, though, if regular doc says you need medicine X, and your insurance company doesn't have that as a supported med, guess you're on your own to pay for it. (Literally dealing with that with my wife right now.)

Universal Health Care for free in Denmark.
@Crell why are you not wearing a suit?
The US medical system model is what New Zealand's far-right government led by National Party Prime Minister wants for the country.
How stupid can they get.
